Drum Setup 1+2:
Each drum instrument is controllable individually!

Contents:
  1. Introduction
  2. Table of all Drum Setup 1 settings
  3. Table of all Drum Setup 2 settings
  4. Additional drum kits in Part mode 'Drum'

1. Introduction

In Part mode 'Drum Setup 1' or 'Drum Setup 2' each instrument of a drum kit can be controlled with 16 different drum setup parameters. Additionally it is possible to change some of these parameters via NRPN controllers as decribed on page System + MIDI CTRL. By XG default Part 10 (09h) is in mode 'Drum Setup 1' and all other Parts are in 'Normal/Voice mode'. You have to enable mode 'Drum Setup 2' for another Part than Part 10 if you want to use a second fully controllable drum kit. You should prefer part 1 for an accurate drum timing, because this Part has a high priority (the XG Part priority list is 10, 1, 2 ... 9, 11, 12 ... 16 from highest to lowest). For this reason it's not recommended to use Parts with high numbers for drum kits.

With Part mode 'Drum' you can use more than 2 drum kits simultaneously, but you won't be able to adjust drum instrument settings in this mode. You should prefer Part 2, 3, ... for additional drum kits in mode 'Drum'to get the most accurate drum timing.

The following tables contain all available Drum setup parameters and additionally some of the most important Part parameters, which I've listed completely at page 'Part Setup'. You always have to replace the variable NN in the SysEx strings with a valid Part number (00h-0Fh), the variable RR with a valid Note number (0Dh-5Bh) and the variable XX with a valid hexadecimal data entry. The valid data range of each command you can find in column 'Data Range', the default value is shown in column 'Default Value'.

Important:
Some of the commands in the tables below are only available with some XG synths (MU90, MU100 or SW1000XG) - such commands appear in grey colour.

Additional notes for MU100 and SW1000XG user:
The Yamaha synths MU100 and SW1000XG offer additionally the Part modes 'Drum Setup 3 and 4' - so with those synth you're able to use up to four drum kits simultaneously! These additional Part modes can be activated with XX=04h or 05h (=Drum Setup 3 or 4) at command PART MODE. Both synths also offer 32 Parts - for this reason the valid data range for NN is 00h-1Fh (=Part 1-32).
The available 20 Drum instrument parameters of Drum Setup 3 and 4 are nearly the same commands as described at Drum instrument settings of Drum Setup 1. You just have to replace the 30 in this SysEx strings with 32 or 33 instead:
F0,43,10,4C,32,RR,*00-40*,XX,F7 (Drum Setup 3)
F0,43,10,4C,33,RR,*00-40*,XX,F7 (Drum Setup 4)
The commands DRUM SETUP RESET for Drum Setup 3 and 4 are:
F0,43,10,4C,00,00,7D,02,F7 (=DRUM SETUP 3 RESET)
F0,43,10,4C,00,00,7D,03,F7 (=DRUM SETUP 4 RESET).
